Print Ad Analysis

The advertisement chosen is from the company "M-tech" and is advertising their latest phone, the "Turbo HD". 
The integral parts that the ad is composed of is a display of the product, the phone, in use. However, the usage of the phone is done through image manipulation. This image manipulation is done through the representation of the "Turbo Charged HD Display" by having the surfer "surf" out of the phone to emphasize the quality of the display.  On the top left of the image, the text "Get ready..." is in big bold letters as to attract the gaze of the viewer to read it and understand what the product has to offer. Additionally, the viewers gaze will gear toward the display of the product, as this is quite figuratively what the advertisement is "selling". As mentioned previously, the display of the phone, through image manipulation, presents the quality of the phone, which gives the impression of how valuable the product is. To add on this, there is small text written below the product that also has the other, less important, details of the product, in case the viewer would require these necessary details of the phone when considering whether to buy it. The main and only "subject" present is the surfer surfing on the product. There isn't much to say, other than the fact as to present the high quality of the phone, as the picture taken of the subject is of high quality. Moreover, surfing can be seen as a cool and thrilling sport which adds to the value of the product as one can relate these two elements with each other. The overall color scheme is very blue-greenish oriented as to match with the subject since this color is often associated with the ocean. Additionally, this color scheme juxtaposes with the action of the subject, as surfing is seen as thrilling while the color scheme is calming. The ad has very little interaction with the viewer, other than the text which states the necessary details of the product. The orientation of the product faces the viewer to display the screen of the phone. The function of the ad is very explicit: It is quite literally just a display of the product's display. The composer is selling the "Turbo HD" quality of the product and as mentioned previously, through image manipulation. The target audience could be geared towards a very general audience: people who use their hand-held devices for entertainment, such as watching YouTube or playing games. Conclusively, through this execution, placement of the text and product, the color used, and other details mentioned, the advertisement appeals the need for aesthetic sensation. Especially, since the central detail that is being sold in the ad is the high-quality display of the phone.
